Still evoking nostalgia with its glorious 128-bit flare, the sixth-generation of gaming was an exhilarating moment. One of the titans from that era refusing to lay rest is the Nintendo Gamecube and the variety of phenomenal Gamecube games is huge.

You could be heading back to brush up on The Legend of Zelda Wind Waker or to bathe in the glare of Super Mario Sunshine or even put your heart through the unforgettable chills of Resident Evil 4 – it won’t matter, you won’t be short on choices.

F-Zero GX

F-Zero GX Metacritic Score – 89%

Still touted as the best racing game ever made, this futuristic speed racer is a must-have for arcade racing fans. A sequel to F-Zero X, this is faster and more dangerous in every way.

To see speed at this level on a Nintendo Gamecube it would usually take the visual trickery and design hacks shown in the original F-Zero but here the frame rate, the action and the combat all seem to flow naturally on screen – making this game way ahead of its time and a staple for the competitive futuristic racing games to come.

Metroid Prime

Before Goldeneye there was TimeSplitters, and you can find genetics from this masterful franchise throughout most of the multiplayer mainstream first person shooters around today. This is a truly brilliant reminder of where AI gaurds got their balls from and how we learned to outsmart them at every turn. The funny cartoonish style of the game also carried it into widespread popularity.

Pitch your wits against a full line up of mega popular characters from the massive Nintendo universe. The combos and moves are intentionally simple and the coop and multiplayer elements are genre defining.

Zeldas best period was arguably on the gamecube and this is why. Wind waker on gamecube is probably the furthest away from all the others in art style but it has bult its own unique praise for exactly that reason.
